Interesting thought though. His rejection said it was for ridiculing public figures, but their policy rejects defamatory material. There is certainly a fine line, but the line most certainly exists. You can ridicule someone till the cows come home without engaging in defamation. The distinction is probably too difficult for anyone without extensive legal background to make on a regular basis and in a timely manner.
Apple should just drop the defamation clause, which may be difficult for them to do to.
I'd say Fiore flirts with that line often enough, Pulitzer winner or no. I don't know the legal technicalities, but I would think Apple would do themselves a favor by letting the lawyers figure out what's defamation and what isn't. I can't see how they could be held responsible for someone else's words, but I'm not a lawyer.

Smurf Village is certainly an easy trap. You have to enter your password to download the "free" game, then your kids have 15 minutes to spend real money on in-app purchases. This has never happened to me, but my son did buy an album on the iTunes store once. Parents should obviously disable one click purchasing on any computer that their kids use. And maybe they should wait 15 minutes before handing the phone over to their kids. In my experience Apple is very good about refunding money in situations like this, so I think most parents will be able to get a refund if their kid buys $99 worth of smurfberries. After this experience those parents should disable in-app purchases. In Capcom's defense, they have placed obvious warnings in the app store and in the app.
It would be nice if apple added "always require password for purchases" to the parental controls. Or a checkbox that says "keep me logged in for 15 mins" on the purchase window.
I think consumers, and Apple, should solve this "problem" without the aid of the government.

Doubtfully. It would be more likely a Power4. the G naming scheme is getting old really fast. It never takes this long to make a processor. Apple must really have something big up their sleves.

Make that 133 days! :D Too bad Virtual PC quit on me (and deleted my whole 10 GB windoos partition), because I have 2 finished WU's from my pc @ work (firewall at work blocks the up and download of wu's from Stanford), about 500 points worth! So Red_eye, first try and come close then we see if you've got what it takes to overtake me! :D
Too bad the store is in Belgium, I thought you lived in the Netherlands, Amsterdam or something, then I would have come by some day!!

I'd be happy with your 6 other points if it meant cheaper ticket prices (the food in coach isn't worth any amount of money!!!). But if they squeeze those seats any closer together, it will make it physically impossible for me (and anyone else over 6 ft) to fit in them. It's already pretty much a fracking health hazard (damned if blood is going to flow through my legs when they're so crammed up against the seat in front of me, hah :D).

Steve does look skinny, yes, but more skinny when compared to his most recent keynotes? Probably not, but quite hard to tell really.
I was watching the 2006 WWDC keynote the other day and thats scary - steve looks completely different and a lot younger. He has lost a lot of weight over the last few years.

Nack offers a different point of view. From his perspective, if Apple hadn�t switched to Intel processors, Soundbooth might very likely be a Windows application only. Apple�s migration to the Intel chip architecture �makes Mac development more attractive,� said Nack.
�Here�s the reality: Apple�s migration to Intel chips means that it�s easier to develop for both Mac and Windows, because instead of splitting development resources optimizing for two different chip architectures, you can focus on just one,� he wrote.
This is why the PowerPC machines need to go as quickly as everyone can buy an Intel machine. Making a intel only Mac Application is cheaper and less time consuming for the developer and is able to take advantage of any code optimization for the x86 platform. That makes it more likey that we'll get better software products and applications we normally wouldn't get. To be frank, developers had absolutely no reason to optimize PPC applications. The platform is too small to warrant it.
The follow snippet is something the platform as a whole should take note of. It should be pretty self explanatory.

Interesting concept, but their website (http://www.eneco.com/) scares me away in a hurry. What was that about making a good first impression?
What is wrong with it? The only thing I see is that they are presenting the Peltier Effect as if it was something they discovered and not already in common use. These chips have been produced on an industrial scale for many years. They don't say this.
Here is another company who has a real product to for sale http://www.melcor.com/ Here is one more - http://www.customthermoelectric.com/ It's a mature technology These guys at eneco seem to be selling a concept and have no product.
But who are they trying to fool? Anyone in a position to buy from eneco would have engineers on staff who certainly would already understand thermoelectrics

Like a touchpad wouldn't it be possible for it to recognize what is a tap and what is just touching to the surface? i.e. it would only initiate a command based on a quick touch and release.

Still cannot laugh. My wife (Japanese) said it was not funny and must have been written by a Kanto comedian. If a Kansai comedian had written it, it would have been funnier.
Actually, it is the taste of Kanto (around Tokyo) not that of Kansai (around Osaka). But for the image of Apple in Japan, Kansai plot is not suitable, I guess. Because the image of Kansai is not cool.

I don't know what kind of posh school would buy iPads! What would they do with them? Hand them out to students and go "hey guys, free iPad!" or would they allow students to browse the web during lessons? Or is it only to read books? In that case, books are cheaper, and offer a more book-like experience... don't they? The idea of school text books being available for the iPad is cool, allowing students to only carry the iPad around, but I don't think text books will get made into digital versions anytime this decade. Teachers usually want students to use books that were published like 5 years ago... I think a laptop would be more suitable for students, but only at university, not at school, since they don't allow you to submit typed text or study from the internet anyway.

Have you ever gone to move your finger across the trackpad and find that it registered it as a tap instead? Drives me nuts.
That has never happened to me, or anyone, that is intentionally using Tap to Click.
That does happen to people who live with buttons, who aren't expecting it, and for some reason tend to mash their trackpad with giant gorilla hands.
People I know that use click instead of tap have broken the trackpads on white macbooks after a few years of use.

still not getting nothing lol my ps3 on the other hand seems to have stepped up a gear, i was on 13 completed WU's yesterday and it's jumped to 20 today :O seems weird lol my ps3 not having any trouble getting the units lol

Actually I don't think I said that MY observation was my reason for this fact. But rather the observation of my co-workers (computer engineers) at a very large multi-national company that uses windows 2000 for it's medium sized computer networks. They are now in the process of switching to IBM Unix and Solaris (where possible). The effectively have "fired" windows, except for the front office PC's.
As for OS X, I would say that every one I know with OS X (about 8 or so people) have also had a similar experience to mine, which while anecdotal, is still a damn good record.
I will defend your view that Intel's platform is ahead of the Mac (for now, it is), but windows is not the same caliber of OS, as Unix.

I didn't notice any speed difference between FX 2.0 and Safari 2.0.4. If anything, Safari felt slightly snappier. (Mac OS X 10.4.8 on a Power Mac G4 MDD Dual 1 GHz)
